On May 9, Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) and Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) of Bangladesh signed an inter-university cooperation MOU and an agreement on cooperation in building Sino-Bangladesh international joint laboratory for sustainable mariculture development by video conference. SHOU President Wan Rong and NSTU President Professor Didar-ul-Alam attended the online signing ceremony and delivered speeches. Jiang Min, Vice President of Shanghai Ocean University and Professor M A Baki, Vice President of Noakhali Science and Technology University co-chaired the signing ceremony.
Wan Rong and Didar-ul-Alam delivered speeches respectively, reviewing the close cooperation between the research teams of both sides since 2016 in terms of talent training, scientific research and personnel exchange visits. On this basis, the two universities signed an MOU agreement and established the Sino-Bangladesh International Joint Laboratory for Sustainable Mariculture Development, which laid a sound foundation for promoting the construction of international cooperation network of scientific research between the two universities and further producing high-quality scientific research cooperation results.
Representatives from the Science and Technology Division, Graduate School, International Exchange Division, College of Fisheries and Life Sciences, College of Marine Sciences of Shanghai Ocean University, and NSTU Faculty of Science and the International Office attended the signing ceremony.
After the signing ceremony, an online academic seminar between the two universities was held, which was co-chaired by Director Li Chenhong of the Chinese side, and Director & Professor Baki of the Bangladesh side. Professor Huang Xuxiong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Fisheries and Life Sciences, Professor Hu Song, Vice Dean of the College of Marine Sciences, Professor Li Chenhong and AssociateProfessor Wang Jun of the College of Fisheries and Life Sciences, and Professor Baki, NSTU Vice President, Professor Abdullah-AlMamun, Head of the Department of Fisheries & Marine Science, NajmusSakib Khan, Head of the Department of Oceanography, Md. Jahangir Sarker from the Department of Fisheries & Marine Science, gave academic presentations on their respective research areas, and carried out lively discussions and in-depth exchanges, and the professors looked forward to future collaborative research in the fields of common interests such as aquaculture and marine science.
