On the morning of June 8, Songhang set sail for the 2022 comprehensive scientific survey of high seas fishery resources in the western Pacific Ocean. Wang Hongzhou, Secretary of Party Committee, President Wan Rong , Song Minjuan, Vice Secretary of Party Committee and Vice President, Wu Jiannong, Vice Secretary of Party Committee, Vice President Ni Weijie, Chief Accountant Guo Aiping, and competent persons from Party Office, Organization Department, Propaganda Department, Graduate School, Ship Management Center, Security Department and departments directly under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Ocean University, and Head of College of Marine Science, etc., saw off the scientific research personnel at the dock of Luchao Port or online.
Wan Rong cheered for the teachers and students at Luchao Port. Wan Rong said that Songhang voyage this time marked the full start of the school's resumption of work and research. Songhang is open and cooperative, not only belongs to Shanghai Ocean University, but also can be shared with various scientific research fields such as fishery, marine and environment. Fishery resources survey was the mission for the SHOU teachers and students to provide scientific and technological support for the high-quality development of offshore fisheries. He asked the teachers and students to strictly abide by the relevant rules and regulations on board, strictly follow the relevant epidemic prevention and control requirements, and ensure the successful completion of the scientific research tasks while paying attention to safety; secondly, he hoped they should maintain the spirit of ocean people fighting against the waves, actively deal with various challenges, and pay attention to strengthening learning while conducting scientific research, and continuously improve their ability of scientific observation and the ability of ocean scientific research.
The research team contains 27 students and faculty members, with Associate Professor Ye Xuchang as the chief scientist and Wang Congcong as the secretary of the temporary party branch at sea. The voyage is planned to investigate for more than 100 days.
