SHOU Teacher Wu Zhichao Returning to China after Completing the 36th Antarctic Science Investigation

On April 23, the “Snow Dragon” and “Snow Dragon 2” on China’s 36th Antarctic science investigation arrived at the Investigation Base Dock of China Polar Center in Shanghai. SHOU teacher Wu Zhichao from the College of Fisheries and Life Science successfully accomplished his tasks in the 36th Antarctic science investigation, and returned to China on “Snow Dragon 2”.

For Wu Zhichao, the main tasks in the investigation were to collect Antarctic fish samples, investigate gene expressions during polar fish development, build a technical system for the functional gene mining and functional in vivo study of polar organisms, explore the relationship between Antarctic fish hosts and parasites, etc.

In recent years, by taking full advantage of its specialty advantages, SHOU has undertaken several polar scientific research programs under the Chinese Arctic and Antarctic Administration (CAA) or supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and other major national research and development programs. By sending teachers and students to Antarctic science investigations, SHOU has contributed its share to the development of our polar research cause.
