On June 20, the delegation led by Deputy Director of the Bureau of Fisheries of Thailand Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives visited SHOU, and was warmly received by Li Jiale, Vice President of SHOU. Present at the subsequent friendly meeting were Yang Jinlong and Liu Liping, Directors of Asian Fisheries Society; and responsible persons and Professors of the College of Fisheries and Life Science, the College of Food Science and Technology, the College of Marine Science, and the International Exchange Office.
On October 11, 2018, SHOU signed a fishery science and technology cooperation agreement with the Bureau of Fisheries of Thailand Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. This visit was the second meeting between the two sides after the agreement was signed. Based on the consensus reached at the meeting in January of this year, they proceeded to engage in in-depth exchanges about the aquaculture of freshwater pearl mussel and catfish, the comprehensive and high value-added use of salmon and tuna by-products, the fishing of tuna, and so forth, and reached preliminary cooperation intention regarding co-organizing Sino-Thailand academic symposiums, launching joint training of postgraduates, establishing the overseas practice base of the College of Food Science and Technology, and other issues. In addition, the two sides also expressed the intention to further strengthen their cooperation in aquaculture, aquatic product processing, fishing technology, and many other fields.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the Recirculating Aquaculture System R&D Platform of the College of Fisheries and Life Science, the Processing Center of the College of Food Science and Technology, and the Pelagic Fishery Exhibition Hall, Fishing Simulator, Marine Fishery Remote Sensing GIS Technology Lab, Dynamic Flume, and Maritime Safety Training Center of the College of Marine Science.
