To know the real situation of the aquatic organism resources on the Chongming Island, build databases and gene banks, and provide solid scientific basis and powerful “think tank” support to the construction of world-class Chongming Eco-Island, SHOU formally launched Chongming Eco-Island Aquatic Organism Resource Survey on April 20.
Field survey team, composed of teachers, graduate students and undergraduates of the College of Fisheries and Life Science, ready to go!
The project has received three-year financial support from Shanghai Science and Technology Committee (STCSM) for local capacity construction, and subsidies from the Collaborative Innovation Center of the College of Fisheries and Life Science. This is the first all-round, multilevel survey on the aquatic organism resources on the Chongming Island. The results of this survey will provide powerful and scientific decision-making support to Chongming Eco-Island construction, and create a new measure and path taken by SHOU to serve local construction. Meanwhile, this survey also offers practice opportunities for the comprehensive ability training of our students majoring in bioscience.
