On the afternoon of November 10, the pelagic fishery resource research vessel “Songhang” of SHOU returned to Shanghai after having successfully completed the scientific expedition of two and a half months on the South China Sea and the western Pacific ocean, and docked at the Luchao Port wharf. Present at the wharf to welcome the investigation team were Cheng Yudong, President of SHOU; Wu Jiannong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of SHOU; leaders of the Office of Science and Technology and Research Room of the Third Institute of Oceanography, State Oceanic Administration; and principals of the Teaching Affairs Department and Vessel Management Center of SHOU.
During the expedition after departing the Luchao Port wharf on August 31, “Songhang” met the challenges of 22# super typhoon “Mangkhut” and 26# super typhoon “Yutu”, but, with close collaboration of all crew members and investigation team members, they successfully overcame difficulties, and conquered scale-9 windstorms and 4-5 m surges.
Our partners highly praised this expedition.
According to the plan for the next stage, “Songhang” is expected to stay at the Luchao Port wharf for a week for reconditioning and replenishing experimental equipment and suppliers. Later it will embark on a ten-day scientific expedition on the East China Sea.
