On June 2, SHOU dispatched an international student delegation, consisting of ten international students from six countries, to “The Second Taichi Chuan Competition for International Students in Shanghai” held at the High School Affiliated to Shanghai University. The delegation made outstanding achievements in the competition.
The opening ceremony formally kicked off at 9:00 in the morning. 17 delegations from various colleges and universities in Shanghai entered the arena in succession, and the international student delegation of SHOU was in the seventh place. The opening program before the official competition was the dragon dance and archery performance of distinctive traditional Chinese characteristics.
The competition consisted of two units, i.e. Taichi Chuan group events and individual events. In the unit of group events, players of SHOU perfectly coordinated their movements, having successfully won the third prize for the unity of form and spirit. In the unit of individual events held in the afternoon, Lu Yirong from France won men’s first prize; Cui Zhisheng, Ke Ke and Bei Ya, respectively from South Korea, Italy and Mongolia, won men’s third prizes; Olivia from Cuba won women’s third prize. Thanks to the joint efforts of all the members of the delegation, SHOU ranked the tenth place in the group events.
It was the first time that SHOU sent its international students to a Taichi Chuan competition. The delegation was coached and led by postgraduate counselor Song Ruhao, and received professional guidance several times by Cui Yayun from the Department of Physical Education and Sports.
