On the afternoon of May 7, a delegation ledby Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Chairman of AIT, visited SHOU for the first time,and held a meeting with SHOU President Cheng Yudong. Also present at themeeting were persons in charge of the International Exchange Office, theScience and Technology Office, the Teaching Affairs Office, the GraduateSchool, the College of Fisheries and Life Science, the College of Engineering Science and Technology and other departments and colleges.
Cheng Yudong extended warm welcome to thedelegation led by Chairman of AIT for their visit to SHOU on the first dayafter the tenth anniversary of the renaming of SHOU. According to him, sincethe signing of a formal cooperation agreement between the two universities in2011, with the joint efforts of both parties, the two universities haveconducted academic exchanges of many forms at both teacher and student levels.In particular, since 2013, SHOU has been organizing summer training programsfor the specialty of aquaculture at AIT, which has strengthened the cooperationbetween the two sides. In fact, AIT has become one of the most importantpartners of SHOU in Southeast Asia. In the important stage of the constructionof “Double First-Class” university and local high-level characteristicuniversity for SHOU, internationalization has become one of its most importanttasks. AIT is an international, comprehensive and high-level university, andthe two universities will have a broader space for cooperation.
According to Worsak, under the “Belt andRoad Initiative” launched by the Chinese Government, the two universities willenhance their mutual understanding, and deepen their smooth cooperation. As auniversity with international characteristics, AIT is a friendly partner to China Scholarship Council (CSC). He expressed the hopethat our outstanding students would actively apply for the scholarship programsof CSC, and study for graduate degrees at AIT. The renewal of the academicexchange and cooperation agreement starts a new journey of cooperation betweenthe two universities in the new era.
Doctor Krishna R. Salin of AIT is an expertin the fields of aquaculture and water resource management in Southeast Asia,and has been especially appointed by the journal editorial board of SHOU as aninternational editorial board member of our English journal Aquaculture and Fisheries. During thisvisit, Cheng Yudong issued an appointment letter to him.
The delegation also held talks with theCollege of Fisheries and Life Science and the College of Engineering Scienceand Technology. The College of Fisheries and Life Science negotiated with therepresentatives of AIT about the contents of the accelerated degree programagreement, and engaged in further communication on the “2019 Macrobrachiumrosenbergii International Conference” held by the UN and other issues. In theexchange between Chairman of AIT and Dean of the College of Engineering Science andTechnology, the two sides reached a consensus about teacher-student exchange,and expressed the wishes to enhance their communication, consolidate theircooperation basis and strengthen the joint application of internationalcooperation programs and regional cooperation programs.
During the visit, the delegation alsovisited our Hadal Science and Technology Research Center(HAST). They expressed astrong interest in this field, and spoke highly of our Hadal team for theirachievements.

AIT consists of the College of AdvancedTechnologies, the College of Civil Engineering, the College of Environment,Resources and Development and the College of Management, all of which can grantMaster and Doctoral degrees. AIT teaches in English, and, currently it hasbecome a civil servant training base for the UN.
