On the afternoon of October 19, Virginia Irwin, DeputyDirector of the Office of International Affairs from the University of Bath,visited Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU). Relevant SOU personnel in charge ofthe Office of International Exchange, Academic Affairs Office, College ofEconomics and Management, College of Information, College of Engineering andCollege of Foreign Languages attended the meeting.
On behalf of SHOU, Zhu Zhanghua, Deputy Director of the Office of International Exchange, extended warm welcome to theguests and introduced the history of our university, the general situation ofthe disciplines and the status quo of international exchange and cooperation.Each college also introduced its information on discipline arrangements andinternational exchange and its intention for cooperation. Virginia Irwin introducedthe history and campus of the University of Batch and an overview of the city.In particular, he introduced the related disciplines with SOU’s four colleges.The two sides conducted further communication on the forms of cooperation inrelevant disciplines and fields. The two sides held their first talk, intendingto strengthen communication and cooperation in personnel training in the fieldsof computer science, management and engineering.
After the talk, guests from the University of Bath met with SHOU students. At the meeting, Virginiaintroduced the University of Bath, answered the questions of thestudents and conducted in-depth exchanges of ideas with some of the students.Afterwards, the foreign guests visited the full-scale conceptual model of theRainbow Fish 10,000m-scale manned submersible, and watched thedistribution map of the global abyss accessible by the RainbowFish, admiring the vision of the Rainbow Fish.
