From December 10 to December 14, at theinvitation of Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment,Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry and Nha TrangUniversity in Vietnam, a delegation of Shanghai Ocean University (SOU) led by WuJiannong, Deputy Party Secretary of SOU and accompanied by You Luquan, presidentof the College of International Cultural Exchanges, and Lin Jun, vice presidentof the College of Marine Ecology and Environment, visited threeuniversities in Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang. During the visit, both sides introducedand discussed the overall situation of the universities, internationalcooperation and exchange, cooperation in teaching and scientific research andjoint talent development, and watched relevant video materials.
During the visit at Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment, President Phan Dinh Tuan and head of theOffice of the International Affairs, professors and staffs held exchanges anddiscussions with our delegation. Wu Jiannong elaborated SOU’s development andinternationalization. Lin Jun gave an academic lecture on the issue ofmarine ecology and environment for teachers and students andconducted a detailed discussion on relevant issues. You Luquan gave detailedintroduction to the questions regarding study in China. After the lecture, the two sides conducted activediscussions on the possible cooperation in the future and reached intent oncooperation. Then the delegation visited the laboratories and carried outin-depth exchanges of ideas with relevant professionals.
As one of the most famous universities inVietnam, Ho Chi Minh University of Agriculture and Forestry ranks in the frontin the fields of aquaculture, food and biology in Vietnam. During the visit, VicePresident Nauyen Hay, Director Nguyen Ngoc Thuy of the Office of InternationalCooperation, and four deans of professional institutes briefed on the universitiesand discipline development to SOU delegation and exchanged views on relevantprofessional issues and future cooperation. The two universities reachedpreliminary agreement on promoting future cooperation, exchange of students andsigning a new round of cooperation agreement.
Nha Trang University is very similar to SOUin program arrangement and development. Formerly known as Nha Trang FisheriesUniversity, Nha Trang University ranks first for its fishery science inVietnam. During the visit to Nha Trang University, Thang TrungKhong, vice presidentof Nha Trang University, Ngan Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Office of ForeignCooperation and Research, deans and professors from related colleges hadin-depth exchange of ideas and discussions with SOU delegation. Both sides haddetailed discussions on future scientific research and academic cooperation,mutual visits by teachers, mutual exchange of students and joint training modes.They also had in-depth exchange with Lin Jun on the issue of marineecology and environmental protection. Our delegation also visited theHistory Museum of Nha Trang University and its campus, deepening theirknowledge about Nha Trang University.
The three universities visited by thedelegation this time have similar discipline arrangement with our universityand have ample room for cooperation in academic and scientific researchcooperation, two-way joint training of students and teacher training. The visitplays a significant role in promoting the subsequent cooperation of SOU withrelevant Vietnamese universities. In recent years, Chinese universities havegradually become the first choice for Vietnamese students to study abroad.While maintaining its cooperative relationship with traditional Vietnamesepartner institutions, Shanghai Ocean University is also actively exploringmodes and ways of further cooperation and continuously broadening the depth andbreadth of the cooperation in higher education between our university and Vietnam.
