On December 22, the academic forum of SustainableUtilization and Development of Marine Resources forpostgraduates fromSino-Japan-ROK marine universities was held at ShanghaiOcean University. WangXichang, Executive President of Graduate School of ShanghaiOcean University,Professors of Tokyo Ocean University, Prof. Wu Wenhui of College of FoodScienceand Technology, Associate Professor Li Gang of College of MarineScience, YinXuwang, Vice Dean of Graduate School of Dalian Ocean University, and36 studentsfrom China, Japan and South Korea participated in the openingceremony of theforum. The opening ceremony was presided over by Xu Wei, vicepresident of the Graduate School.
Wang Xichang warmly welcomed teachers andgraduate studentsfrom marine universities participating in the forum andpointed out that theoceans are one of the most dynamic and potential areas inthe world. He hopedthat graduate students from China, Japan and South Koreawould dare to face thechallenges and the future together under mutualunderstanding, constantexchanges and further cooperation so as to make theircontributions to thesustainable development of the marine resources of threecountries.
This forum was held exclusively in English andallsubmissions and papers were in English. The forum screened 33 papers fromTokyoOcean University, Ocean University of China, Shanghai Ocean University,DalianOcean University, Zhejiang Ocean University and Guangdong OceanUniversity fororal presentation. Prof.Gao Jian of Graduate School, AssociateProfessor Li Gangof College of Marine Science, Prof. Chen Shunsheng and WuWuhui of College ofFood Science and Technology, Associate Professor WeiYouzhou of College of EconomicManagement, Prof. Cao Shoukai, AssociateProfessor Xu Zhe and Xing Bowen ofEngineering College were invited toparticipate in the forum.
At the closingceremony in the afternoon, Prof. MasashiMaita of Tokyo Ocean University delivered a closing speech. Wu Wenhui, XuWei,Yin Xuwang, and Akio Okayasu, respectively presented certificates of oralpresentation papers tothe participating students. A total of 6 outstandingpapers were selected fromthis forum. Prof. Wang Xichang awarded certificates ofoutstanding papers tothe winners.
This forum provided a high starting pointandmulti-disciplinary academic exchange platform for postgraduates fromChina,Japan and South Korea, broadened the academic environment forpostgraduates,aroused the awareness of scientific research and innovation,promoteed theacademic exchange among postgraduates and enhanced the innovativeability ofpostgraduates.
During the forum, interviews onDDP and JCK applicants onAsian campus were also conducted.
