From December 22 to December 26, the delegation headed by Li Yancheng, Vice President of SHOU, visited the offices of China Aquatic Products Co., Ltd. in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Mauritania, HongDong International (Mauritania) Fishery Development Co., Ltd., the Ministry of Fisheries and the Institute of Marine Research. During the visit, the delegation engaged in in-depth discussion and exchange with all parties concerned about talent cultivation, scientific & technological cooperation, resources exploration, etc.
The delegation visited the offices of China Aquatic Products Co., Ltd. in Las Palmas de Gran Canariaand Mauritania respectively on December 22 and December 24, surveyed the fishery base and fishing vessels of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and discussedwith the responsible persons of the two offices. During the discussion, President Li reviewed the cooperation progress and achievements achieved by SHOU with China Aquatic Products Co., Ltd., appreciated the company for itslong-term support and assistance to SHOU in terms of fishery science researchand talent cultivation, and expressed his hope that more in-depth exchange andcooperation would be promoted between the two parties in the future in terms oftalent cultivation, teaching team construction, fishery science research, etc.The delegation also listened to the introduction about the basic situations ofthe two bases by their responsible persons. Since dispatching the first Chinese pelagic fishing fleet to Guinea-Bissau in West Africa for the development of pelagic fishery in 1985, China Aquatic Products Co., Ltd. has developed bottom trawl, tuna longline, high and middle-level heavy-duty trawler, tuna seine, squid jig and many other types of pelagic fishery in the waters of Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau and many other West African countries, in the waters of East Africa, Southwest Asia, South America and Pacific Islands Countries and in the high seas of the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean. It has played a very important role in earning foreign currency reserve for our national fishery industry, meeting domestic demand for aquatic products and promoting employment in the industry. In addition to the hard efforts and struggles of China Aquatic Products Co., Ltd., the obtaining ofthese achievements is also inseparable from the care and support from SHOU leaders and the wisdom and painstaking care of SHOU’s faculties and students. After the meeting, the two parties also had in in-depth discussion and exchange with regard to the cultivation of talents, the internship and training of ourteachers and students in overseas bases, the university-running cooperation between the College of Pelagic Fishery and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria base, the development of new fisheries and the R&D of new techniques.

On December 24, the delegation visited HongDong International (Mauritania) Fishery Development Co.,Ltd. During the visit, the delegation surveyed the resources status and fishery development in the waters of Mauritania, and held a discussion with the responsible person of the Mauritania base of HongDong about the construction of“Technical Demonstration Center of Mauritania Marine Fishery” and other relatedissues. The two parties also exchanged their opinions about four major issues,i.e., the survey research on marine fishery resources, the research on major marine living resources, the cultivation and placement of human resources andthe demonstration program construction of the engineering technical demonstration center. They reached a consensus in respect of the fishery resources evaluation of important economic species, the comprehensive utilization of marine living resources, the talent cultivation in marine fishery-related fields and so forth, and took this visit as an opportunity to further promote the building of “Technical Demonstration Center of Mauritania Marine Fishery”.
On December, 26, the delegation headed by LiYancheng, Vice President of SHOU, held a meeting with the Minister of Fisheries of Mauritania and the Director of the Institute of Marine Research of Mauritania. After exchanging their opinions about the sustainable development and utilization of fishery resources, the exploration and protection of pelagic fishery resources, the renovation and improvement of fishing techniques, the cultivation of exchange students and so forth, they expressed their intention to further strengthen their exchange and cooperation in the field of marinescience and technology, to gradually implement the work of joint human resources cultivation, and to continuously contribute to the survey research on marine fishery resources and the sustainable development of pelagic fishery.
