The College of Fisheries and Life Science Signed the Academic Cooperation Agreement with the Faculty of Science of the University of Auckland

On the afternoon of Nov. 1, the signing ceremony of the academic cooperation & exchange agreement between SHOU College of Fisheries and Life Science and the University of Auckland Faculty of Science of was held at the meeting room B102 of the College of Fisheries and Life Science. SHOU staff present at the ceremony included Zhong Junsheng, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office; Tan Hongxin, Dean of the College of Fisheries and Life Science; Huang Xuxiong, Deputy Dean of the College of Fisheries and Life Science; and Professor Lv Weiqun. The University of Auckland staff present at the ceremony included Professor John Hosking, Dean of the Faculty of Science of The University of Auckland; Professor Sebastian Link, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science of The University of Auckland; Lee Hsieh, Director of International Relations Office, and so forth.

The signing ceremony was directed by Zhong Junsheng, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office. Secretary Tan Hongxin and Dean John respectively presented their speeches at the ceremony, both fully affirming the academic cooperation and exchange achievements made by the two universities in the fields of mutual teacher visits, international summer schools and so forth and sincerely expressing their hope of establishing inter-university cooperation as soon as possible based on this academic cooperation agreement. They also thanked Professor Lv Weiqun from SHOU College of Fisheries and Life Science and Professor Simon Thrush, Director of the Institute of Leigh Marine Research of the University of Auckland for the efforts they had made in promoting the academic cooperation and exchange between the two sides. In Jul. 2015, the Marine Laboratory of the Institute of Leigh Marine Research of the University of Auckland received 25 students of marine biotechnology major in SHOU for short-term internship, which laid a solid basis for the joint cultivation of students by the two universities.

After the signing ceremony, the delegation of the University of Auckland led by Professor John Hosking introduced to SHOU students the details about obtaining the Master’s Degree in Marine Studies under the “3.5+1.5” program, including application methods, scores of major courses, English proficiency, credit requirement, degree type, tuition, accommodation conditions and so forth, and patiently answered the questions raised by students.

The University of Auckland delegation also communicated with SHOU College of Fisheries and Life Science, College of Information Technology and College of Foreign Languages about accelerated degree program, undergraduate “2+2” and “3+1” programs, teacher visits, international summer schools, and other cooperation contents.
