During April 14 to 27, 2016, North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC) held in succession the meetings of SSC-VME, SSC-NPA, SSC-PS and SC in Tokyo, Japan. Delegated by the Ministry of Agriculture, a Chinese delegation of scientists, including Tian Siquan and Cheng Linqiao from SHOU and Fang Lianyong from China Deep-sea Fisheries Association attended those conferences, while Chen Yong, the Distinguished Visiting Professor of SHOU, participated in the relevant meetings as the advisor of the delegation. The meetings also welcomed delegations from different countries and regions, including China, the United States, Canada, Russia, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
A number of issues were discussed and reviewed in those meetings, such as fishery production of member countries in waters of NPFC, research of vulnerable ecosystem, assessment of sparid resources in North Pacific, assessment of saury resources, revision of interim administrative measures for demersal fishery and work guide of the commission. Chinese delegates stressed the stance of China on relevant issues, and actively participated in discussion of all topics and formulation of relevant administrative measures, fulfilling the mission preset.
