Recently, associate professor Zhu Guoping of College of Marine Science returned to China via the Indian Ocean section of the Antarctic Pole. Upon invitation of Dr. Andrew Constable, the team leader and chief scientist of the project for Antarctic oceanic ecosystem of Australia Antarctic Division (AAD), Professor Zhu participated in the project concerning “Assessment of Habitats, Productivity and Food Chain in KerguelenAxle in theSection of the Southern Ocean and Indian Ocean.”

This scientific investigation is part of 2015-2016 Australia Antarctic project, closely related to its strategy on Antarctic research project, and is the first of its kind in Australia over the past 20 years on comprehensive investigation of Antarctic ecologic system. As the only foreign scientist, Zhu took part in Antarctic fish and euphausiid investigation under the project, another of his involvement in cooperative investigation in the polar region following his participation in comprehensive investigation in the arctic region invited by the US in August, 2012.
