In the morning of March 22, SHOU held the retaining ceremony for University of Oldenburg professor and chief editor of Ocean DynamicsJörg-Olaf Wolff, president Cheng Yudong presented the certificate of chair professor of SHOU to Prof. Jörg-Olaf Wolff.
President Cheng Presents Retaining Certificate to Prof. Jörg-Olaf Wolff
Cheng gave a brief introduction of SHOU and its history of foreign exchange and cooperation. He expressed the hope that joining of Prof. Jörg-Olaf Wolff would instill new vitality for promoting cooperation between China and Germany and between two universities in research and talent training, and for propelling exchange between two countries and implementation of SHOU’s strategy of internationalization. Prof. Jörg-Olaf Wolff expressed his honor of being retained as the chair professor of SHOU, and hoped that he could contribute his part to research and development of marine science by relying on the strengths of SHOU.
After the retaining ceremony, Prof. Jörg-Olaf Wolff briefed on the research situation in College of Marine Science of University of Oldenburg in his speech titled “Multi-discipline Research Makes a Big Impact”, and shared his method and experience in composing research papers in respect of Scientific Publishing in Ocean Dynamics.
Prof. Jörg-Olaf Wolff is a renowned German physical oceanologist and meteorologist, and is a professor at University of Oldenburg and chief editor of Ocean Dynamics under Springer. He once acted as the scientist of Max Planck Meteorology Institution (work team of climate dynamics), scientist for the dedicated research project “318 Climate Process of Ocean-Atmosphere-Cryosphere System” funded by DFG, senior research fellow of Australia Joint Research Center on Environment of Antarctic Pole and Southern Ocean, chairman of German Association of Marine Science, and visiting professor of the University of Southern Queensland.
