On August 16, Pedro Abreu, consul for economic and commercial affairs of Consulate-General of Portugal in Shanghai, paid a visit to our university.
Vice President Li Jiale briefed the guests on our history, disciplinary strengths, the status of international education and our cooperation with Portugal, especially with University of the Algarve, with emphasis laid on the progress in applying for NSFC ( Natural Science Foundation of China ) project jointly by University of the Algarve and our university, hoped to strengthen cooperation with Portugal in marine, aquatic products, foods and other scientific education fields under our international joint research center for marine organisms, and thus elevated our quality and standard in international scientific cooperation.
Consul Pedro Abreu agreed with Li Jiale and hoped to enhance Sino-Portugal cooperation in marine organisms through our cooperation with University of the Algarve. In particular, based on our nation-level joint research center, he hoped to strengthen university-industry cooperation in seawater breeding, marine biological energy and other marine sectors and thus fuel cooperation in related industries through collaborative scientific research.
After the talks, Consul Pedro Abreu also went sightseeing in our campus and spoke highly of our campus environment. Adelino Canario, a distinguished professor under China’s Thousand Talent Program, attended the activities.
