The summer seminars jointly run with the college of aquatic products science, Hokkaido University was successfully completed.
From Sep 23 to 28, the summer seminar entitled “sustainable development of fisheries”, jointly run by SHOU and the college of aquatic products science, Hokkaido University launched for the first time. In a total of 24 master students and undergraduate students from both universities attended the seminar, taking part in all-way English education and discussion. During training, vice-president Huang Shuolin, Prof. Zhou YingQi , Prof. Xu LiuXiong from SHOU and Dr. Mitsuhiro Nagata from Hokkaido Research Institute made presentations that are respectively entitled as follows: “Global fishery administration and Chinese practice”, “Sustainable development of fisheries from the viewpoint of ecosystem”, “The status of global tuna resources and Chinese tuna fisheries” and “The resource management of Hokkaido trout”. All speeches are greatly welcomed by all participants.
In addition to the course, students also paid visits to Jiangsu Marine Fisheries Research Institute and Jiangsu Marine breeding technology and seedling center. During the study, the participants unfolded group discussion on How to restore offshore fishery resources, posing suggestions about recovering offshore fishery resources based on their specialized knowledge as well as the knowledge they have learned in summer school.
