报告一题目:星载合成孔径雷达(SAR)海面风场反演与其在海岸带观测中的应用

报告摘要:
1979年发射的SEASAT卫星开启了人类利用星载合成孔径雷达研究海洋和大气现象的序幕。此后,业务化运行的C,L,和X波段的星载合成孔径雷达不断问世,为研究海洋提供了大量宝贵的数据。尤其是2006年后,星载合成孔径雷达的发展进入了一个“黄金时期”,不仅仅体现在高空间分辨率和时间覆盖率,而且多极化、全极化和沿轨技术都得以业务化实现。本报告将重点介绍利用星载合成孔径雷达反演海面风场与其在海岸带观测中的应用。

报告人简介:
李晓明博士2002年毕业于解放军西安通信学院,获信息工程专业工学学士学位。2002年考入中国海洋大学海洋遥感教育部重点实验室,海洋物理专业硕博连读。2006年6月赴德国空间宇航中心工作并攻读博士学位。2010年1月获德国汉堡大学地球科学理学博士学位。此后继续在德国空间宇航中心从事研究工作。
李晓明博士的研究兴趣包括利用星载合成孔径雷达反演海面风场和海浪信息,利用多传感器和数值模型研究海洋和大气现象。第一作者身份发表SCI、EI收录文章20余篇。

报告摘要:
The basic aspects that lie at the basis of RADAR remote sensing for marine applications are briefly reviewed, then the key aspects related to RADAR polarimetry are analyzed.
The physical rationale that governs RADAR remote sensing is briefly reviewed. The side-looking geometry of imaging radars is analyzed pointing out its effects in radar images. Then, the spatial resolution is addressed focusing on Real Aperture Radar (RAR) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) techniques. Finally SAR products are introduced analyzing their benefits for marine applications.
The basic aspects of RADAR polarimetry are introduced starting from the basic concepts of polarization and, then, introducing the polarimetric measurements. Finally SAR polarimetry is introduced and its potentialities are discussed for marine applications.

Ferdinando Nunziata (SâAZ03, M’12) was born in Italy in 1982. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees (summa cum laude) in Telecommunications engineering and the Ph.D. degree (curriculum electromagnetic fields) from the Università degli Studi di Napoli “Parthenope”, Napoli, Italy, in 2003, 2005, and 2008, respectively. Since 2010, he has been a Researcher in electromagnetic fields with the Faculty of Engineering “G. Latmiral”, Università degli Studi di Napoli “Parthenope”. He has been a Lecturer at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, U.K., the Université catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, the Helsinki University of Technology (TKK), Espoo, Finland, the City College of New York, New York and the School of Electronics and Information Engineering, Beihang University (BUAA), Beijing, P.R. China. He is the author/coauthor of more than 80 papers published in peer-reviewed journals and refereed conferences. His main research interests include electromagnetic modeling, single- and multi-polarization sea surface scattering, radar polarimetry, and synthetic aperture radar sea oil slick monitoring.
Dr. Nunziata was the recipient of the 2003 IEEE GRS South Italy Chapter Best Remote Sensing Thesis Award and the 2009 Sebetia-Ter International Award for his research activities in remote sensing. He was/is in the Organizing Committee of the 2008, 2010 and 2012 IEEE Graduate of Last Decade (GOLD) Remote Sensing Conferences at the European Space Agency, Frascati, Italy at the Italian Naval Academy, Livorno, Italy and at the National Research Council, Rome, Italy, respectively. He served as a session chair at 2008 and 2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. He is the Chairman of the Università degli Studi di Napoli “Parthenope” IEEE Student Branch and he is GOLD representative to the GRSS (Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society) AdCom.
